Hong Kong Weather in October
Hong Kong, derived from the Cantonese word fragrant harbour, is arguably one of the most dynamic cities in the world full of unique sights, sounds, smells and people. When asked to conjure a mental image of Hong Kong, a typical scene would include cosmopolitan city streets, topped high with concrete; however outside of the urban hive is 70% green sprawl, full of lush flora and break taking scenery.
Destination Essentials
When to Go- Hong Kong weather ranges from cool climes to extreme tropical island mayhem depending on the time of year. The months of September through December are very pleasant and temperate. The rest of the year ranges from sunny, hot and humid to uncomfortably sticky and wet. This, we define as summer, which is also typhoon season. The best time to visit is in October, allowing time to participate in the amazing festivals from National day, Mid Autumn Festival to Halloween as well as enjoying perfect island climes.
What to wear- Best to bring a jacket when visiting from December through to February; March begins to warm up and from April to August you will be asked how many shirts today? This means carry a change of shirts otherwise you may never feel dry . Bring a light scarf for the breeze in September though to November. BUT Our number one rule? Always carry an umbrella in your bag to fight the rain and/or the melting sunshine.
Getting There – Flying to Hong Kong is the most common way to come to this exhilarating city from afar.
Touted as one of the world’s best airports, you will land in Chek Lap Kok, home to Cathay Pacific and a subsidiary Dragon Air; making it one of the busiest and most efficient airports in the world. Both a shopping destination and global hub, biding time between flights isn’t a matter of finding a seat or lounge as there are some fantastic eateries and numerous shops to spend your HKD at.
