Train from Hong Kong to Shenzhen

As an important high speed railway connecting the Mainland China and Hong Kong, the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Railway (also called Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link) is a part of the planned Beijing-Hong Kong High Speed Railway. It could serve rapid transit from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Kowloon West, Hong Kong, passing by Humen Town of Dongguan, Shenzhen North Railway Station and Futian Station. Furthermore, at Guangzhou South Railway Station, passengers could experience the free-transfer system to the high speed trains to Wuhan and Zhuhai.

The total length of this railway is 142 kilometers, which consists of two sections - one is from Guangzhou to Shenzhen and the other is from Shenzhen to Hong Kong.

Since Dec 26, 2011, the high speed trains from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Shenzhen North Railway Station have been put to use. The CRH (China Railways High Speed) trains running this way via Humen take 36 minutes, while the returning trains via Guangmingcheng and Humen take 45 minutes. The ticket fare is CNY99.5/first-class seat and CNY74.5/second-class seat. On the other hand, the current Guangzhou-Shenzhen Inter-City Trains will be in operation all the same. It takes about 70 minutes.

The rest 40-kilometer railway from Shenzhen to Hong Kong will be finished in 2017. In downtown Hong Kong, the speed is designed to be 200km/hr, which is much faster than the 135km/hr HK Airport Express. Until then, it takes only 15 minutes from Shenzhen to Kowloon and 10 hours to Beijing.
