Hong Kong Airport is a veritable hub of transportation and well served by buses, trains and taxis. For speed, the Airport Express train will be best and is certainly the most popular option; while the bus offers some fantastic views over the South China Sea and will take you over the longest rail and road suspension bridge in the world.
As a hub, all of the transport is part of the Airport complex and extensively signposted.
Read on for a more detailed description on the different modes of transport.
Hong Kong Airport Express Train
The Airport Express is the quickest route between the airport and Central Hong Kong; taking just 24 minutes- less to Kowloon. The train runs like clockwork at 12-minute intervals, from 05:50 - 00:48, daily. Tickets are priced at around $50 for a single and $100 for a return (valid for one month). Tickets must be purchased before getting on the train, with ticket vendors stationed at the entrances.
Travel Time: 24mins
Frequency: Every 12 minutes.
Passengers on the Airport Express can also take advantage of the free Shuttle Bus Services, from both Hong Kong and Kowloon station. The buses will drop passengers at selected major hotels, between 06:20 and 23:10.
See if your hotel is on the list and find out about the timetable. You can of course utilise the service even if you aren't staying at one of the selected hotels.
Buses from Hong Kong Airport
If you're on a budget, there are plenty of buses that can take you wherever you need to go in Hong Kong. Buses between the airport and Central take around 45mins, with journey time to Kowloon around 30mins. Fares vary depending on which route, however the maximum you're likely to pay is $5. Buses during the day are frequent, upwards of every 10 mins, while night buses are generally every 30mins. Remember, buses don't give change, so try and bring the right amount where possible.

Taxis from Hong Kong Airport
First of all, you need to work out which taxi you need to get, as they come in three colors - and unfortunately you can't just choose your favourite.
Red taxis serve urban areas including all of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, meaning these are almost certainly the right color for you.
Green taxis serve the New Territories, which is the area of land above Kowloon.
Blue Taxis serve only Lantau Island.
You have no chance of bargaining for a pre-agreed price for the journey, and taxi drivers will not take kindly to the suggestion of a ride 'off-the-meter'. If you're carrying luggage, you will have to pay a $2 surcharge, and will also have to reach into your pockets for any toll bridges used.
Travel Time: 30mins
